Improper drainage due to clogged or improperly installed gutters is the source of many homeowner woes. Water from snow melt that cannot properly drain can severely damage your roof. The cycle of melting and freezing can crack joists and tear up shingles.
After cleaning out your gutters, make sure that the downspouts drain a reasonable distance from your house to avoid water pooling around the foundation and seeping into the basement.
